Eternal Return:

This series of works on paper, created during Athena Standards Residency in Athens, Greece in summer 2021, are based on the concept of hierophany, or the manifestation of the sacred into our world. Inspired by the landscape, mythology, and a compressed sense of time while visiting ancient landmarks, this experience allowed me to create from a receptive place, find historical context, and re-imagine older motifs in my ongoing body of work. Notably, I can now connect my past images of floating figures to the Epiphany Cycle in Minoan Art. These ancient images depict the stages of the epiphany, or the coming of the goddess into the visible world. Thus, these images become a manifestation of feminine principles and an exercise in receptivity during the creative process.
